Led Floodlights for Terraces

LED floodlights for terraces let you enjoy the outdoors after sunset with powerful, weatherproof, energy-efficient light. At GreenIce you'll find IP65 floodlights with adjustable color temperature, RGB models to create ambience, wire-free solar floodlights and versions with a motion detector for added security.

Types of floodlights for terraces

  • 3CCT IP65 floodlights: available from 10 W up to much higher wattages, with a color temperature selector and IK05 impact protection. For a home terrace, 10 to 50 W models are usually enough.
  • RGB floodlights: such as the 20 W IP65 floodlight with remote control, to wash a wall, planter or pergola in color.
  • Solar LED floodlights: with a separate solar panel and remote control, perfect if there's no power outlet on the terrace.
  • Floodlights with motion detector: switch on when they detect someone passing, ideal for entrances, outdoor stairs or barbecue areas.

How to light a terrace

On a terrace, it's best to separate functional light from ambient light. The floodlight takes care of the former: flooding the table area, barbecue or entrance with light. Mount it high and angled slightly downward to avoid dazzling people who are seated and to avoid bothering the neighbors. For ambient light, combine the floodlight with lower-output outdoor wall lights, string lights or bollards.

If you want to highlight plants or a facade, a low-wattage floodlight aimed up from the ground creates a very decorative effect.

How to choose an LED floodlight for the terrace

IP and IK rating

For outdoor use, look for at least IP65: it protects against dust and water jets. The IK rating indicates impact resistance, useful if the floodlight is within reach.

Wattage and lumens

On a home terrace, 10-30 W is usually enough. Higher wattages are designed for large gardens, courtyards or warehouses.

Color temperature

For dining or relaxing, choose warm light (3000 K). For security or work areas, cool light offers more clarity. 3CCT models let you choose.

Power supply

If there's a power outlet, a conventional floodlight is the most powerful and stable option. If not, solar models avoid building work, although their performance depends on hours of sunlight.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave the floodlight outdoors all year round?

Yes, as long as it has the right IP rating and the electrical connection is also protected with waterproof junction boxes.
