Dining Room Lighting

Dining room lighting revolves around one centerpiece: the table. It's where you eat, talk and share, so it needs warm, well-centered, glare-free light. At GreenIce you'll find pendant lamps, ceiling lights and decorative bulbs to create a cozy dining room with personality.

Fixtures that work in a dining room

Pendant lamps over the table

They are the key piece. You can choose from several styles:

  • Wood, wicker and rattan: add warmth and a natural or Scandinavian feel, with models that cast decorative shadows on the ceiling.
  • Metal: industrial or modern shades in white, black or metallic finishes.
  • Plaster, concrete and stone: pieces with simple lines for contemporary interiors.

Decorative ceiling lights

If the ceiling is low or the dining area is part of a living room, a decorative LED ceiling light provides the general lighting. Many models let you adjust the light tone with a remote control.

Filament bulbs

In lamps where the bulb is on display, vintage LED filament bulbs add a warm, retro touch.

Keys to lighting the dining room

  • Lamp height: as a guide, hang the lamp 70 to 80 cm above the table to light it without getting in diners' line of sight.
  • Size and number: over long tables, two or three pendants in a row spread light better than a single lamp.
  • Supporting light: a wall light or floor lamp in a corner keeps the rest of the room from being left in the dark.

How to choose the lighting for your dining room

Color temperature

Between 2700 K and 3000 K: warm light enhances food and creates a relaxed atmosphere.

Dimming

Being able to lower the brightness while lingering at the table after a meal makes all the difference. Combine lamps with dimmable bulbs or ceiling lights with a remote.

Light direction

Closed shades focus light on the table; open or perforated shades also light up the ceiling and surroundings.

Style

Choose materials that complement your furniture: wood with wood, black metal with industrial chairs, and so on.
