Led Downlights for Living Rooms

LED downlights for living rooms let you create clean, modern lighting built into the ceiling that adapts to every moment: watching a movie, reading or entertaining guests. At GreenIce you'll find energy-efficient recessed downlights with warm light, high color rendering and adjustable options to highlight what you love most about your living room.

Types of LED downlights for the living room

  • Visual comfort downlights with UGR below 15 and CRI 95+: 6 W spotlights in 2700K with a well-shielded light source that won't dazzle you when you're lying on the sofa.
  • Adjustable CRI 90+ downlights: 10 W spotlights in 2700K or 4000K that you can aim at paintings, shelves or a stone or brick wall.
  • CCT downlights: 7 or 8 W models where you choose the light tone, useful when the living room shares space with the kitchen or dining room.
  • Ultra-thin downlight panels: for suspended ceilings with little space. You'll find them in ultra-thin LED downlight panels.
  • Downlights for E27 or GU10 bulbs: black or white rings that let you choose the bulb.

How to lay out downlights in the living room

In a living room, it's best to avoid a uniform grid of downlights, typical of offices. Lighting by zones works better: some adjustable downlights aimed at the walls to add a sense of space, others over the coffee table or reading area, and supporting indirect light, for example with LED strips in a cove. That way you can switch on only what you need at any time.

Avoid placing downlights directly above the sofa, pointing at the faces of those sitting there, and leave 30–50 cm from any walls you want to wash with light.

How to choose LED downlights for the living room

Color temperature

For the living room, warm 2700–3000K light is the coziest. If you also work or study there, a CCT model gives you flexibility.

Glare (UGR)

The lower the UGR, the less the light bothers you when you look at the ceiling. In relaxation areas, look for downlights with a recessed light source or anti-glare design.

Color rendering

A CRI of 90 or more makes wood, textiles and paintings look their true colors.

Dimming

Being able to lower the brightness is almost essential in a living room. Check that the downlight is dimmable and pair it with the right driver from our dimmable drivers section. See the full range in LED downlights.
