Ultra-thin Led Downlight for Hallways

Ultra-thin LED downlights for hallways are the ideal solution for lighting narrow, elongated passageways, where the suspended ceiling usually has very little depth. At GreenIce you'll find low-profile, high-efficiency panels that spread light evenly along the whole route, with minimal consumption even when they're on for many hours.

Ultra-thin panels that work well in hallways

  • 6 W and 9 W panels: with 600 and 900 lm respectively, these are the most widely used in home hallways. There are 100 lm/W versions in 4000 K and 6000 K.
  • Round and square panels: round ones are more discreet; square ones suit ceilings with straight lines or other square fixtures in the house.
  • Panels with adjustable tone (CCT): round models from 6 W to 25 W that let you match the light tone of adjoining rooms.
  • Decorative glass panels: round or square, from 6 W to 18 W, for hallways that also act as a landing or entrance area.

How to light a hallway with LED panels

The secret to a well-lit hallway is uniformity. Place the panels in a line along the center, 1.2 to 1.8 meters apart, so there are no dark stretches between light points.

If you want automatic switching, add a presence and motion detection sensor. To mark the way at night, LED strips at floor level or under a skirting board are a great complement. Discover more ideas in hallway lighting.

How to choose an ultra-thin panel for the hallway

Wattage by length

In home hallways, one 6-9 W panel every 1.5 meters is usually enough. In shared or office corridors, go up to 12-18 W or reduce the spacing.

Color temperature

Choose the same tone as the rooms it leads to. In homes, neutral white (4000 K) is the most balanced; in common areas, cool white is usually preferred.

Glare

In a hallway, you look ahead and upward as you walk. Panels with an opal diffuser or low UGR (such as UGR17 models) are more comfortable.

Suspended ceiling depth

Ultra-thin panels can be installed with just a few centimeters of clearance, ideal in hallways where the suspended ceiling hides ducts or services.

Frequently asked questions

How many panels do I need for a 5-meter hallway?

Usually 3 or 4 panels of 6-9 W, evenly spaced, provide uniform light.

Can I use a motion sensor with LED panels?

Yes, it's a very common combination in hallways so the light comes on by itself and turns off when presence is no longer detected.
