Decorative Lamps for Dining Rooms

Decorative lamps for dining rooms are the stars of the room: they light the table, set the style of the decor and create the atmosphere for every meal. At GreenIce you'll find a wide selection of pendant lamps in metal, natural fibers and glass to give your dining room beautiful, functional light.

Lamp styles for the dining room

  • Metal pendant lamps: the largest family in our catalog, with domes and shades in industrial, Scandinavian or minimalist styles in black, white and metallic finishes. Discover our metal pendant lamps.
  • Wood, wicker and rattan: add warmth and a natural or Mediterranean feel; their weave lets light through and casts patterns on the table. See our wood, wicker and rattan lamps.
  • Glass lamps: elegant and visually light, ideal for classic dining rooms or to pair with dark wood tables.
  • Modern lamps and LED pendants: more geometric designs, some with integrated LED, for contemporary dining rooms.

How to light the dining room

Dining room light should fall on the table, not on the diners. Ideally, center the lamp over the table even if it doesn't line up with the ceiling light point (you can offset it with a hook or a pendant cord). As a guide, hang the lamp about 70–80 cm above the tabletop so it doesn't block the view during conversation.

Long tables work better with two or three identical pendants in a row, or a linear lamp. On round tables, a single large shade draws the eye and brings order to the space.

How to choose a decorative lamp for the dining room

Shade size

A simple rule: the lamp's diameter should be between a third and half the width of the table. That way it looks neither lost nor overwhelming.

Type of light

Closed metal shades focus light on the table; wicker or glass shades diffuse it and set the mood for the whole room. If you want both, combine the pendant with wall lights or a floor lamp.

Bulb and color temperature

Most of these lamps use an E27 base. For the dining room we recommend warm light (2700–3000 K) and, if the lamp leaves the bulb on show, LED filament bulbs are the perfect complement.

Dimming

A dimmable bulb lets you switch from bright light for eating to a soft glow for lingering over coffee.

Frequently asked questions

Do the lamps come with a bulb?

Check each model's product page: most lamps come without a bulb so you can choose the wattage and tone you prefer.

Can I install the lamp on a sloped ceiling?

It depends on the canopy and the type of suspension of each model; get in touch and we'll help you choose.
