LED Tubes

They offer an efficient and long-lasting alternative to traditional fluorescent tubes. At GreenIce, you can enjoy the benefits of LED lighting without compromising your budget.

What to know before buying LED tubes?

Before choosing an LED tube, it's important to understand the types available and their characteristics. This will help you select the right model for your setup, ensuring optimal performance and avoiding compatibility issues.

Types of LED tubes

  • T8 Tubes: The most commonly used in lighting. They can be installed in all kinds of spaces due to their versatility, especially in industrial areas and garages.
  • T5 Tubes: A slimmer variation of T8 tubes. They are ideal for installations in places with limited space.
  • 2G11 Tubes: With 4 pins instead of 2, they are mainly used in kitchens and industrial settings, compatible with some older luminaires.
  • G10q Tubes: Also known as circular tubes, perfect for kitchens or spaces that require 360º lighting thanks to their shape that distributes light evenly.

Parts of an LED tube

An LED tube is mainly composed of three parts:

  • Connections: The connection is made using pins, similar to fluorescent tubes. These transmit the electric current to produce light.
  • Diffuser: Can be made of polycarbonate or glass. Polycarbonate diffusers are more resistant to impact and diffuse light better. They can be opal or transparent.
  • Heat Sink: Manages the heat generated during operation. These can be made of aluminum or a thermally conductive paste.

Buy LED tubes for every room

LED tubes are a versatile and efficient solution for lighting any area in your home, office, or workspace. Here's how to use them effectively:

For kitchens

They provide bright, even light—perfect for cooking and cleaning. Their energy efficiency helps reduce electricity costs, and they turn on instantly without flickering.

For bathrooms

In bathrooms and humid areas, LED tubes offer clear, crisp lighting—ideal for grooming, makeup, or shaving. Their moisture-resistant design ensures safety and durability.

For offices

In offices, workshops, or commercial spaces, LED tubes offer efficient and comfortable lighting that improves productivity. Their long life and low maintenance make them a cost-effective investment.

Garages and storage rooms

Perfect for garages, storage areas, and warehouses, providing uniform, powerful lighting that helps with organization. Their low power consumption and impact resistance make them an economical and practical choice.

Why choose LED tubes over fluorescent ones?

LED tubes consume up to 50% less energy, last much longer, and don’t contain toxic elements like mercury. They turn on instantly with no flickering or buzzing and provide consistent, pleasant light. They're the recommended option for any space: home, office, kitchen, or garage.

How do I know which LED tube I need for my installation?

Before purchasing, consider these factors:

  • Socket type: T8 (garages, offices), T5 (tight spaces), 2G11 (kitchens, industry), G10q (360º light distribution).
  • Tube length: Must match the existing fixture. Standard sizes: 600, 900, 1200, 1500 mm.
  • Color temperature: Warm (3000 K), neutral (4000 K), or cool (6000 K) light depending on the desired ambiance.

How much energy do LED tubes save?

A 1200 mm LED tube consumes between 16 and 20 W compared to 36 W for a fluorescent tube—over 50% energy savings, plus less heat and reduced maintenance.

Size Fluorescent LED
600 mm 18 W 8 - 10 W
900 mm 30 W 14 - 15 W
1200 mm 36 W 16 - 20 W
1500 mm 58 W 22 - 30 W

Are LED tubes available with different color temperatures?

  • 3000 K (warm): Ideal for homes, bedrooms, or cozy areas.
  • 4000 K (neutral): Great for shops, workshops, or work zones needing clear but soft light.
  • 6000 K (cool): Recommended for offices, labs, or areas requiring intense brightness.

How do I know if an LED tube is suitable for outdoor use?

  • IP65 or higher: Resistant to water and dust. Suitable for outdoors, terraces, open garages, or industrial zones.
  • Durable diffuser: Polycarbonate diffusers are more impact-resistant and help distribute light evenly.
  • Temperature resistance: Some LED tubes are designed to handle extreme heat and cold, ensuring year-round reliability.

How much can I save on my electricity bill by switching to LED tubes?

Savings depend on the number of tubes and usage time. On average, LED tubes consume half the energy of fluorescents—up to 40–50% savings on your electricity bill, plus lower maintenance costs.
