What a solar LED floodlight consists of

A solar floodlight is made up of three elements:

• Separate solar panel: placed in the sunniest spot and connected to the floodlight by cable, so the floodlight can be installed in shaded areas.
• Lithium battery: stores the energy captured during the day. Its capacity determines how many hours the floodlight runs at night.
• LED floodlight: a rugged body with outdoor protection, usually IP65, and neutral (4000 K) or cool (6500 K) light.

Most include a remote control to switch on and off, adjust intensity or program timers.

Panel and battery before watts

With solar floodlights, the model's advertised wattage rarely matches the LED's actual consumption. To compare, look at the panel wattage and the battery capacity: the larger they are, the more light and the longer the runtime.

Color temperature

4000 K for residential settings and more natural light; 6500 K when you want maximum visibility in work or security areas.

IP rating

Choose at least IP65 so the floodlight withstands rain and dust.

Panel orientation

Install it facing south and free of shade. Good panel placement is what most affects system performance.
